Hello Friends,

We are reaching out today to ask for your help on behalf of Barbara McAvoy, our mother, wife, and beloved friend, on her recovery journey.

On the evening of May 10th, we came home to find her unresponsive in bed and called 911 to rush her to the hospital. It was there that they determined that she had suffered an aneurysm on her main artery in her brain. They performed an emergency surgery to stabilize her, and later on Monday morning, performed another procedure to put a metal mesh to block the artery from bleeding any further. Currently, she is still in critical condition, sedated, but stable, and with the best medical care from the ICU department at Rochester General.

As long as the recovery continues positively, like it has, she will continue to stay in the ICU for another 2-3 weeks; following that, we will have a better idea of what her recovery will look like. It will be a long road to recovery, but Barbara is one of the strongest people we know and who has always been there for everyone. We are staying hopeful and allowing the medical team to get her through this traumatic event.

With that, we are asking for assistance to help cover the expenses for the extended emergency, rehabilitation costs, and to support the family financially during this time. She does have insurance to help with some of the expenses, but the additional emergency services, neurological surgeries, and recovery will possibly exceed that. We are doing our best to get ahead of this unexpected circumstance and make it as smooth a recovery her.
