On 4/4/15, 13 year old Danny Montoya was accidentally shot in the abdomen. He was airlifted to sjrmc and underwent a 4 hour surgery in an attempt to repair the internal damage. He was then airlifted to UNM children's hospital and was sedated to have 5 more hours of surgery. The surgeons had to remove a small portion of his stomach, 12 inches of his small intestine, and a small portion of his colon. He is currently in stable condition, but has an incision from above his pelvis to just below his sternum which is not stitched yet because it has not been determined if he will need another surgery. He is hooked up to several vacuum machines which are removing potentially infectious fluids/ matter from his wounds and stomach. We are asking for any donations possible to help with medical costs and food for our mother while she stays in the hospital with him for at least the next 1-2 weeks.
