Justice for Alex

My name is Kathy Halvorsen. We are seeking Justice for Alex: Here is our story

Alex is an intelligent, passionate, friendly, and caring student that has autism.
For over five years, Powhatan County Public Schools has failed to provide Alex with a Free and Appropriate Public Education, (FAPE), by subjecting him to the same curriculum for five years, refusing to identify him as gifted when he was completing fifth grade work in first grade, and repeatedly secluding and restraining him due to the lack of training.

In November 2021, after five years of attempting to collaborate with the district to appropriately educate Alex, it was determined that Alex would need to be placed privately to receive FAPE.
From that point on,Powhatan Public Schools and the Sands Anderson Law Firm have violated the Fourteenth Amendment rights of me, Kathy Halvorsen and Alex's Dad, John Halvorsen, which clearly states that parents are the final Authority regarding the care, upbringing, and education of the student.
We are in a fight for the soul, spirit, life, and future if our son, Alex. The school division, commeonwealth attorney, and Sands Anderson Anderson Law Firm have weaponized the court system to undermine the rights of parents;forcing them to disclose student ,Alex and our own personal information to over fifteen county and state entities, to include the Department of Juvenile Justice, just to access funding for private placement.
We are taking a stand, refusing to funnel our ten year old child with autism into Virginia's Pre-School-To-Prision Pipelinecreated and cultivated by Big Law and Big Ed.
Please help us to fight for our and all Parents rights.
