RayLynn's Heart For The Homeless

Would you consider...

A few months ago, on her way to work, our daughter, RayLynn, noticed that several homeless people had created a sort of cardboard and blanket village very close to an area that hundreds, if not thousands, of people pass by, and ignore, each day. If you know Ray, well then, you know that she treasures the familiar and the comfort of routine. But not this day! The Holy Spirit tugged at her and she listened. Tentative at first, she started a project with her 1st grade students to create care packages.

She lights up, beaming, when she tells of the joy and gratitude that she witnessed when distributing these boxes! Nudged further (always being safe and taking precautions), she began blessing them with coffee and, on the days she can afford it, a warm breakfast. Now when she pulls up in her little blue truck, they recognize her and wave a friendly good morning, grateful that today, they have not been ignored or forgotten. She would never share this, but we know that a considerable amount of her paycheck goes to bring joy and comfort to this group of about thirty homeless people. Just this afternoon, she was able to bless a women who did have any shoes.

With this recent cold snap, they are in desperate  need of warm socks, gloves, deodorant, Vaseline for chapped lips, toothbrushes, other toiletries, blankets, and winter coats for men. 

Perhaps you would consider picking up a few of these items on your next shopping trip? Or maybe you found an extra winter coat when you cleaned out your closet? That would be such a blessing!

There are so many ways to help. For example, one of her students has a goal that each one of these people have at least one warm meal on Christmas.
