Kate's Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer Journey

Hi, my name is Dora and my best friend Kate has just been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer.

In January we found an extremely swollen lymph node located at her neck. We ran her a biopsy and ultrasound - only for the results to come back as cancer. All those times Kate was extremely tired and would sleep in till 5pm, have extreme night sweats, get chills often, and now, not being able to taste food apparently made sense.

Currently, she is scheduled to start chemotherapy and a series of PET scans to figure out what stage her cancer is in, as doctors believe she is past stage 1.

Doctors have told Kate she can no longer work, especially with many treatments coming up, Kate will require much rest and help getting to appointments, house work, and chores. Not to mention, the income assistance she is applying for will not even cover her rent, let alone groceries.

Kate lives with many animals as she is an empathetic soul whom lives for animals. She wants to make sure her cats, reptiles, and spiders will still be fed during this difficult time.

The truth is, we do not know what the outcome of Kate's treatments will be. We pray to God they will be successful and smooth, but with her being out of work with no immediate family in Vancouver, she could use all of our help right now, as she has only been there for us.

Even though she is sick, I still want Kate to be able to live her life just like the rest of us, because we don't know what will happen tomorrow.
