Help Ann Keep Her Apartment
Spende geschützt
Dear friends and colleagues of Ann,
We have created this fundraiser for our dear friend due to an emergency situation arising from a long standing conflict with the management of her co-op building.
Ann had been eligible for a homeowner's NY state grant to pay off arrears, and had completed the application in June, with extra time given to ensure the process would go through. After months of clerical errors, lost documents, and no response from the granting administration, she reapplied after investing in an attorney, who regrettably fell far short of communicating her status to the court and therefore denied any further time to wait for the grant to come through. At the same time, she heard from the grant administration that additional documents were needed (ones which had already been submitted), and because of this, the application was refused.
Ann has received a letter from her management that on September 15, her apartment will be auctioned off, and she will lose ownership. The only way to avoid this auction is to pay the management the amount of $64,000 before the auction date. She has consulted with her attorney as well as other legal help, and there is little that can be done to block this. Her apartment is her most significant investment, and if lost, her security and quality life will be severely damaged. Despite her strong efforts over many months to handle this situation, and significant financial investment in legal representation, the multiple errors that have occurred have exhausted all other possibilities to be awarded the grant. Thank you for reading! We hope to support Ann as best we can during this extremely difficult and uncertain time.
