Rally for Shane's Burn Recovery

On June 8 around 5pm Shane was involved in an accident with a pig cooker sustaining 2nd and 3rd degree burns to 25% of his body including both hands, right arm, both inner thighs and calves neck and face. Shane was doing what he loved and cooking for his step sons gradation from high school when the incident happened.

Shane was transported first to ECU health in Greenville where we would learn the burns were worse than originally thought and was then transported to UNC Chapel hill burn center where he is currently in good spirits and recovering. Shane underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair the burns and has since remained in the burn center for treatment and recovery.

The accident itself alone is stressful to add he has no health insurance. Healing and recovery has been tough. We are uncertain how long Shane will be in the hospital. Bills do not stop. Traveling back and forth isn’t cheap. Once he is released from the hospital, he will have to make weekly visits to the hospital burn center for dressing changes. 

He is not one to ask for help in anything as he knows others travel the same tough road day to day just as he does. There will be a BBQ plate benefit for him on August 2nd by friends and family that’s in the works of being planned. If you feel in your heart to donate please do.
