Rally for Katie: Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
As you may know from the recent update shared via her social media, Katie has been dealt several tough blows over the past few months with no time to recover in between.
Katie's message:
"Hey Friends-- quick life update. I haven't had the energy to reach out to many people, so I figured I'd do a little mass update here.
I've been at Flagler Hospital since Thursday after some pretty brutal pain landed me in the ER. I had appendicitis that had an acute rupture. I had emergency surgery the same afternoon, so thankful they got me in quickly. The rupture also caused a bacterial infection in my bloodstream, so it's been...a very painful, scary week.
To those of you I have talked to -- thank you. Your love, support, flowers, and check-ins have meant the world.
It's been a bit of a rough ride lately (shoutout to the hysterectomy I had in March), but I'm here. I'm healing. And I'm wildly grateful -- for my life, for my people, and for this hospital room with a killer view of the intercoastal. Bonus: my kids got to come visit for Mother's Day.
If all goes well, I'll head home and continue fighting the infection with IV antibiotics for another week or so from the comfort of my own bed.
Also, as a single mom who's currently between jobs, this whole experience is hitting me hard in a number of ways. Some sweet friends are setting up meal trains and other ways to help ease the load. I'll share the links as soon as they are ready.
Thanks for being in my corner"
We thought this platform would most efficiently allow Katie's friends, near and far, to offer their support if moved to do so. Please share with anyone who may be interested in showing Katie some love and support either via this fund or by coordinating a meal drop-off with Katie or in whatever other way they are able.
