Help Jacob Gentry Fight Cancer and Care for His Family
Hi everyone,
My name is Mendy Gordon and I’m reaching out to ask for your support for someone who has always shown nothing but kindness, love, and strength—my lifelong friend, Jacob Gentry.
Jacob and I grew up together—his locker was always next to mine, and I can honestly say he was one of the kindest, sweetest people I’ve ever known. He grew up to build a beautiful life centered around family. He became a devoted grandfather and even stepped up to care for his grandson, who was the victim of child abuse. That’s just who Jacob is—when someone needs him, he shows up with open arms and a full heart.
Recently, Jacob was diagnosed with cancer. He began chemotherapy with the hope of beating this disease so he can continue to be there for the family he loves so dearly. But the treatments have taken a toll, and because of them, Jacob could not renew his CDL license, which means he can’t keep working the job he relied on to support his family.
To make matters worse, when Jacob tried to apply for temporary unemployment benefits to get by while undergoing treatment, he was denied—because chemo has left him unable to work, therefore, he’s considered ineligible. It’s an impossible situation: he’s too sick to work, but somehow that disqualifies him from the assistance he needs.
Jacob’s one wish is simple: to get through this, to take care of his family, and to be here for his beloved grandchildren. He’s not asking for much—just a little breathing room so he can focus on healing without the stress of financial survival weighing him down.
If you’ve ever known someone like Jacob—someone who gives without asking for anything in return—you’ll understand why this matters so much. He’s always been there for others. Now, we have a chance to be there for him.
Every dollar, every share, and every kind word helps. Let’s show Jacob that he’s not alone in this fight.
With gratitude,
Mendy
