City of Raleigh Freedom to Choose (“CRFC”), a coalition of City of Raleigh police officers, firefighters, and other public servants, stand united in opposition to the City’s COVID-19 employment mandate. The City of Raleigh is imposing a COVID-19 mandate on its workforce which discriminates against some employees and privileges others. The mandate suffers from a variety of procedural, statutory, and constitutional problems.

CFRC is comprised of 118 police officers, firefighters, and other City employees. We represent a cross-section of some of the best our community has to offer. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the social tumult of 2020, our public servants protected and served Raleigh and its residents. Every day across the City, the firefighters and police officers of CFRC wake up, put on their uniforms, leave home, and put their lives on the line for other people. The City has backed working-class public servants into a corner they never asked to be put in, forcing them to hire counsel to fight for their livelihoods, callings, and constitutional rights.
