I'm raising money for Little Hearts Matter. They are a national UK charity offering help to anyone affected by single ventricle heart conditions and every donation will help them continue to do amazing and very impactful work.
My beautiful son Enzo had HLHS and sadly was one of the little HLHS warriors who didn't make it. When Enzo was diagnosed with HLHS, we had no idea what it was, nor did we understand or were prepared for the bleak possibilities that inevitably and tragically happened. LHM was a big help to my family, in not only providing us with support and information, but they also connected us to other parents whose children had HLHS, some whose child was still fighting and others whose child didn't make it. I will forever be grateful for that as it really helped to make us understand how serious HLHS is and get a realistic perspective.
The 19th September 2020 marks Enzo's 5 year anniversary, which is a difficult milestone as this month he would have started School. Many people don't realise that when a child passes, that not only do their parents and siblings lose them at the age they were, they also lose them at the age they would have been.
So I wanted to turn that pain into fuel to do something that will have a positive impact and of course with the current economic impact charities are under even more immense pressure to raise money and navigating that is hard for charities like LHM.
I lost Enzo but gained an angel and I know that he would have wanted to help other children with his condition.
More information about Little Hearts Matter: They provide support and information to the children, and their families, born with only half of their heart and works to raise awareness of the needs of all those affected by these incurable conditions. From initial antenatal diagnosis, through treatments and into life at home, the charity works with children, young adults and families to reduce the isolation, fear and lack of understanding created when a child is diagnosed as having half a working heart.
