Raising Awareness of Domestic Violence
Due to Covid19 Pagewood Botany Football Club was unable to holds its yearly fundraising gala event. As President of PBFC I didn't want to let this year go past without some event where we gave back to the local community. One of the organisations that would normally benefit from our fundraisers is Bayside Women's Shelter. So I have decided ride my mountain bike as far south as I can in a week in early December 2020.
Wednesday 25 November 2020 is also the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and marks Day One of the 16 Days of Activism
My goal is to ride 500km south of Sydney in one week to support this initiative and all money raised will be donated to the Bayside Women’s Shelter. I will be riding solo and without a support crew to represent that most women don't have support during this time, until they get to a place like Bayside Women's Shelter.
Bayside Women’s Shelter is a best practice women's shelter in South East Sydney for women and children escaping family and domestic violence.
