Raising money for medical expenses
Spende geschützt
Hi, My name is Jean Lee. I am the sister of Joan Stetser. My brother-in-law Doug, Joan's husband, has recently been diagnosed with Stage Three rectal cancer. Joan and Doug received this devastating news just before the Christmas Holiday. Doug was asymptomatic and was diagnosed through routine blood work while receiving his annual physical. Things moved quickly after diagnosis and he began his treatment journey at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. The doctors at Cooper believe Doug's prognosis to be very good. However, the bills have already started to pile up. The unfortunate timing of a December diagnosis meant having to reach a very high deductible in both December and again in January when their insurance reset. Doug will be receiving about four months of Chemotherapy, followed by surgery in the spring, and more chemo post-operatively. To help alleviate the financial stress of an already stressful situation I am starting this fundraiser.
For those of you who know Joan and Doug, and their sons Adam and Andrew, you know that they are a service-oriented family. They are active in their church ministries, in addition to spending many of their holidays collecting items and preparing meals at a homeless shelter for veterans in Camden. Doug is currently enrolled in the Diaconate program of the Camden Diocese which he hopes to complete in July 2025, with the goal of continuing his role of service to others. Joan and Doug have a great support system of friends and families and are grateful for all of your prayers, texts, cards, and well-wishes. I feel the burden of a cancer diagnosis is enough to bear without the the added financial stress that it brings.
Any help you could provide to relieve their financial worry would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. A share of this fundraiser would also be appreciated. Thank you so much for anything you can do. I will provide updates on Doug's progress throughout his treatment.
