The latest: A PLUMBING CRISIS!
The hits keep on coming. A plumbing crisis of suspicious origin has led to a closure of the cafe until a $2,000 repair is made. We can't open without these repairs!!!
Donations will help us recover from the days the cafe has been closed and ensure we can pay our rent, as the eviction moratorium expires on September 30th!

Founders Victor Navarrete and Leila Mansur, our elders and friends, are maintaining good health and social distancing. But as vulnerable members of our society, it is very risky for them to be outside and attend to daily business. So they have had no income since the onset of the shelter. And the forecast is for very little income to come because of it. As the pandemic wears on, it’s unclear how Victor and Leila and Radio Habana will survive the unknown looming in these upcoming months.
For over 21 years Radio Habana has been a lifeline. Its not only a connection to our communities’ past, both in the Mission and our ancestors’ resting places. Its also a heartbeat to our communities’ ability to survive together, no matter what tribulations confront us or changes that become necessary. Radio Habana has survived waves of gentrification, endless months of closure from obligatory construction, personal health tragedies, and countless obstacles. And now, with the community’s help again, we will survive the virus.
All moneys donated to this fund go directly to Victor and Leila so that Radio Habana can weather this period. What you are donating for, besides theirs and Radio Habana’s survival, is precious peace of mind that we will indeed survive this too. And it will be together and because of you.

Sus fundadores Victor Navarrete y Leila Mansur, los "elders" y amigos de la comunidad, se están manteniendo bien de salud y con distanciamiento social. Pero como son miembros del grupo de riesgo de la sociedad, es demasiado arriesgado que ellos atiendan el negocio de manera cotidiana. Motivo por el cual no han generado ningún ingreso desde que empezó las restricciones de quedarse en casa. Debido a lo difícil de la situación es muy probable que el negocio decaiga. Mientras dure la pandemia, es muy incierto como Victor y Leila sobrevivirán entre tanta incertidumbre.
Por más de 21 años, Radio Habana ha sido una cuerda salvavidas. No ha sido solo la conección de nuestras comunidades pasadas tanto con la Misión como con los sitios sagrados donde descansan nuestros ancestros.
Es también el latido de nuestras comunidades que juntas podremos sobrevivir, no importa la turbulencia que debamos confrontar o la transformación necesaria. Radio Habana ha sobrevivido otras oleadas de gentrificación, meses de cierre debido a construcción obligatoria, tragedias de salud personal y más obstáculos que se pueden contar. Hoy una vez más con el apoyo de la comunidad sobreviviremos al virus.
Todas las donaciones a este fondo son para Victor y Leila para que Radio Habana puede resistir y aclimatarse a este período. Su apoyo ademas de ayudar a la sobrevivencia de Victor y Leila y Radio Habana, provee calma y sosiego al espíritu de que sobreviviremos a esto también. Y así lo haremos juntos y gracias a Ud.
