Rachel's Skin Removal Fund #nothinglefttolose
Growing up I always had issues with my weight. I can't recall a time when I wasn't ridiculed for my weight and my inability to lose weight.
At my heaviest, I weighed 435lbs. I was pre-diabetic and on the verge of needing blood pressure medication at the age of 28.
On 5/19/2019, I had a Vertical Gastrectomy performed at Ruby Memorial Hospital where they amputated 80% of my stomach. This surgery gave me a second chance at life. Today I have lost a total of 168lbs. Though my weight-loss journey isn't quite over, I have began to plan and save for skin removal procedures. I have 67lbs left to lose before myself and my doctor will be satisfied enough to begin consulting with surgeons about body lift procedures. This is the final chapter in my weight-loss journey.
Once I have lost my remaining weight, that will bring me to a total of 235lbs loss. My doctor has estimated that I will have 30-40lbs of excess skin at that point. My excess skin has already caused me many issues; Infections, rashes, and discomfort to name a few. Everyday, I look in the mirror and see myself in my old body. I relive my traumatic past each day. I want to rid myself of the physical and mental baggage, so I can move on to bigger and better things.
I sincerely want to thank everyone who has donated to my surgery. I will be starting a private Instagram account with full access to recipes, meal plans, grocery staples, and updates on my journey. Anyone who donates will be given access to my account.
Thank you to everyone who has supported meevery step of the way. I can't wait to see where this takes me. This wouldn't be possible without you.
