Rabbit & Sadie

Meet Sadie. She is the adorable, sweet natured dog in our neighborhood who loves a good scratch behind the ear. Her father is a man named Michael who we call Rabbit. Rabbit, like his fur-baby is kind hearted and doesn’t ask for anything, even though he is homeless. He always puts Sadie first and only wishes the best for all. He has always been in the neighborhood but up until recently we began having simple conversations with Rabbit and supplying treats for Sadie. Rabbit is an Army vet who just simply fell down on his luck in life. He works odd jobs to have some sort of income, but as we all know, that doesn’t sustain a person needing a place to live. While in the trying times of Covid, he is still awaiting his DD-214 so he can try and get back on his feet. He has been knocked down by life so many times, but it has never taken away his spirit. Shelters are full and the VA is backed up due to Covid. So we are doing what we can to help him.



I understand that 2020 has been difficult for everyone. Including myself. I never imagined a world being so hard to not only understand, but survive in. But every single day when I get down on what is happening in this world, I realize people like Rabbit don’t have that chance. They only have the choice to survive with some dignity and hope.



We supply him with propane daily to make sure him and Sadie have heat at night. Hot meals for the both of them, and whatever else they might need to get by. Mind you, Rabbit has never asked us for these things, he is a humble man. In a world of turmoil, don’t all of us want to find some peace? It is time for this country of separation, to come together for us all. It is our hope that this one small act of kindness may lead to a kinder world.
