Rabbi & Mrs. Dov & Judi Bidnick

Rabbi & Mrs. Dov & Judi Bidnick originally moved to FL in 1972, coming from upstate NY where Rabbi Bidnick was the Rabbi of the congregation House of Jacob and Principal of the day school, and was responsible for the community Mikva and local Kashrus certification.

In the early 1970s, Rabbi Bidnick was Principal of the Hillel Day School, and was involved in acquiring the current campus where over 1,000 students now attend. In the 70’s and 80’s, he was the Rabbi of SkyLake Synagogue for many years, building the membership and successfully raising funds to construct the shul building that proudly stands today. He was invited to Washington DC during the Carter and Reagan presidencies, where was honored with giving the prayer invocation to both chambers of Congress. Rabbi & Mrs. Bidnick welcomed into their home countless Shabbos guests from all walks of life.

During those formative years and beyond, Rabbi & Mrs. Bidnick were actively devoted to help successfully build South Florida to what it is today: Both helped establish the Chevra Kadisha and trained other volunteers in this mitzvah; were founders of Toras Emes Academy; built the Mikva in NMB (Mikva Jovita Cojab); and built the Eruv in NMB, among their many accomplishments on behalf of the community.

Mrs. Judi Bidnick had a long-standing dual-career as a beloved preschool teacher, as well as being the “Mikva Lady” at Mikva Jovita Cojab in NMB for over 30 years. In her later years she worked as a secretary in the Bais Yaakov School and was fondly regarded by the students. Rabbi & Mrs. Bidnick were dedicated supporters of Rabbi Bensinger’s shul Torah V’Emunah in NMB since its inception in the mid-1980’s: Rabbi Bidnick was essential in helping achieve the shul construction and expansion, as he had many years of fundraising experience in South Florida and around the world, devoting tireless efforts on behalf of numerous Jewish institutions, and making lifelong personal connections in every community he traveled to.

There is not a person in our community who has not benefited from the dedicated work of Rabbi & Mrs. Bidnick.
