I am starting this Go-Fund me (mostly at the request of friends whom I consider my family) to help my grandparents rebuild their home. My husband
and I are active duty military in Japan and we are currently in the process of trying to get us, my mom, and my siblings to Puerto Rico to help with
relief and re-building efforts. My beautiful grandparents live in Orocovis... Botijas 1 - Sector El Puente. They are the most amazing and loving
grandparents any kid could have and I know they need our help. We come from a huge family and every single member has been affected and devastated by the hurricane. While I wish I could help every single soul in Puerto Rico, I need to be realistic of what we can afford and the time off work we are able to take. My husband and I applied for military aid (using emergency leave) to help us get to PR but sadly it was denied.
Still, any money raised through this account will be used to clean and rebuild my grandparents home (my childhood home).
NOTE: If you are looking to donate to relief efforts for the whole island, and not a particular family, this is not the account for you. However, I love you all and truly appreciate any help you could give my family.
EXTENT OF DAMAGE: CRITICAL! As you can see in the photo we have featured their entire driveway is gone and the only hope they have of saving their home is to create a retention wall. Their fogon is completely gone. The house has suffered structural damage and a huge light poll and pine tree has fallen on top of the house. Furthermore, as everywhere on the island, there is flooding around their property.
