Queen Babs Yarnbombs

My name is Jane, but I yarnbomb under the name of Queen Babs.  

I work towards lifting the spirits of my community who see my work, receive a crocheted lovebomb heart and also the wider community who see and read about my yarnbombing adventures. Sharing my personal challenges with invisible and chronic illness and using craft as a therapy for myself has become part of my day. I use my work to raise awareness, encouraging others, spread kindness and hopefully inspire happiness.

I was recognised by the Australian of the Year's new Australian of the Day Project on June 18 2015 for my work in the community. It was a great honour and confirmed my belief that you can spread happiness with yarnbombs.

The money will go towards my projects in 2016. They include  Fibromyalgia Hope Mandala project, the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence forecourt installation, Blooming Lovely project aiming to reassure that you are lovely just the way you are regardless of shape, colour or age,  the Beanstalk project to interpret the children's nursery rhyme in fibre art and the Big Cherry Blossom, a massive wall hanging to promote art and craft and fibre arts in particular.

I have begun working on many and I need help to complete these. I am a non-profit fibre artist working with a variety of illnesses, kind volunteers and support. I currently use money from my Disabilty pension and donations from friends and family.

My aim is to make others happy and lift the spirits of others. I want to show that regardless of illness or disability you can contribute to a better world, even in a small way.

Your contribution will not only ensure my work goes ahead, it will help me lift the spirits of others, not just those like me with chronic illness, housebound or wheelchair bound, but anyone who sees my yarnbombs and follows me on Instagram or Facebook.
