Joan Brandes is an amazing woman that my sister and I are lucky to call our mother. She became a widow in December 2004 when our father, her husband, the love of her life, passed away.
In her 84th year, this exceptional, brave woman is experience medical issues. 18 years ago, she had radiation on her legs to treat cancer. Because of that, she now has a hole in her right leg (down to the bone). She had surgery in November of 2017 to cover the hole, unfortunately it was unsuccessful . Since then, she has been going to hyperbaric treatments to help close the wound.
The treatments are helping but it is a very slow process. despite the excruciating pain, she carries on and fights. Unfortunately, her Medicaid and insurance do not cover all the costs of the treatments. She is on a fixed income and we ourselves have minimal means to assist her. The bills are mounting and our mother is in desperate need of assistance.
