My daughter is an amazing young lady. Courtney Groh was born 1 lb 14oz at 27 weeks! My tiny miracle changed my life forever! She was diagnosed with high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD at 5 years of age. Now she is 16 years old and is struggling with substance abuse and an eating disorder. It has been a long difficult year and currently she is in juvenile detention. She needs treatment.
We were advised by our team of professionals that a residential treatment center that teaches from an autism perspective for dual treatment (both the substance abuse and the eating disorder) would be the best thing for her. The problem is that there are only a few in the country. None near Michigan. We found one in Alabama but it costs $15,000 per month with an average stay of four months. We could not financially afford this option.
So plan B! Courtney will be released home to us with strick supervision and safety plans in place. This means a security system for our home, pulling her out of the school system and paying for home school teachers, a one on one person that is trained in ASD to be with Courtney while my husband and I work, intense outpatient treatment (currently we are paying an ASD psychologist that specializes in CBT and another ASD counselor that specializes in social communication etc), equine therapy and not to mention the court costs and medications. We are very overwhelmed and now we are asking for your help.
We are a very private family and having to share this is extremely difficult but we have run out of options. I know that God has a plan for her life and this is part of the process. We are trusting in our faithful Lord! "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
