Jan Feldmann is a lifelong activist and friend of democracy. As a retiree she has been tireless in her pursuit of truth and justice, and dogged in her quest to engage others in her lofty goals.
Last week Jan took a serious tumble, landing head first into concrete. The fresh and ready smile that we have come to know and love has been seriously damaged. Extensive oral surgery and implants are necessary, but Medicare does not cover much of what is required. The initial emergency out-of-network repairs were particularly expensive, and future work must be delayed until after the new benefit year to help contain the additional costs, which aggregate in the thousands.
In the meantime, Jan's teeth are wired together and she can only eat liquid foods.
Despite that, Jan's daily activism, optimism and enthusiasm continue unabated.
