Please help our family in our time of need
Donation protected
My name is Samantha Mathis. I am daughter of Wayne J. Mathis. Loving husband/father/family member/friend/ex marine. He has always taken care of everyone he meets, first to offer a hand to anyone in need, all his life. He has been the main support system for our family, being the owner/operator of Best Pest control, on his own working 7 days a week at some times to both take care of customers and his family. He even has taken food as payments to help out his customers. In November he started feeling ill and losing weight. At first doctors thought it was kidney stones and was further ignored as he was told "it will pass". In February he went to the ER with an intestinal blockage thought to be possibly from the kidney stone medicine. They did a CT scan and found an inoperable mass in his lungs. He also got a PET scan which revealed its stage 4. Being a tough ex marine it has been very difficult for him. Even now he still tried to answer calls for work to try to help people but even on an oxygen machine it's very difficult for him to talk. He can barely walk from bed to the bathroom without being extremely winded and his breathing becomes labored. He continues to lose weight as it is hard for him to eat while in so much pain and from not being able to breathe. He has not had insurance and didn't know he qualified for VA help but that is also a process and at this point everything is delay after delay because they have their own process of doing things. He pays for meds out of pocket but because he hasn't/can't work, times have come to where we have to choose between medicine or food/bills. Every day we fall further behind. He is too proud to ask for help but he cannot work right now. My mother currently works and I am home taking care of him all day. Please, anything anyone can donate is greatly appreciated and it will help us take the pressure off our main provider so he can concentrate on treatment and hopefully getting better.
Update: As of 5/31/23, Wayne has passed away. Thank you to everyone that has helped us
