Help Bernie Volunteers get to Texas!

Hi, I'm Karl. I’m a healthcare professional living in New York. Join me in sending volunteers from NY to canvass for Bernie in TX.
What I'm raising funds for
To send volunteers to Austin, TX to canvass for Bernie, Heidi Sloan, Donna Imam and Sema Hernandez. We picked Austin because it gives donors maximum impact per $ given that we can help 4 progressives for the same price.
Use of funds
The funds will be used for flight tickets, AirBnB, public transport/car rental and food.
Why I'm doing this
I live in NY and work in the healthcare industry as an occupational therapist. I work with patients to ensure they remain as independent as possible in their home as well as minimize their risk of falling during their daily routine.
I work with seniors and nearly all my patients are on Medicare and also have supplementary plans. Effective long term care under the current system is a challenge, and service delivery to patients without secondary insurance is nearly impossible. If a patient cannot afford monthly payments for secondary insurance, they will not be able to afford the 20% of long term services Medicare does not cover.
Medicare for All would impact their lives from day 1 since Bernie plans to decrease the eligibility age to 55 in the first year. It would eliminate the need for seniors to come up with the money for either secondary insurance or extra bills that Medicare currently does not cover, allowing people with chronic conditions to get consistent treatment and care.
I work long hours and haven't been able to volunteer much, but have donated to the campaign and also sponsored a volunteer to canvass in IA.
I believe that supporting volunteers is the most impactful action for those of us who don't have the time to volunteer ourselves. I'm starting this GoFundMe to invite others to join me in solidarity to help volunteers from NY go to TX and other crucial states.
If this goes well I will add other states beyond super Tuesday to help Bernie and other Progressives in the primary and general election.
