Hello, good-hearted friends. I’m starting this fundraiser for my lawn guy—one of the kindest, most hardworking people I know. I’ve known him for four years, and he works tirelessly from sunup to sundown, always willing to lend a helping hand. What has happened to him has been truly devastating for both him and his family. Please take a moment to read his story below.

My name is Jesus, and I am from Mexico. I have lived in Minnesota for over 20 years, building my life, my family, and my community here.

For the past 10 years, I have worked as a landscaper, and I have also worked as a cook. I am a very hard worker and have always done everything I can to provide for my family. My family of four includes my two children, my partner, and our beloved 200-pound Saint Bernard.

Recently, my life took a devastating turn. I was involved in a serious accident that nearly cost me my leg—and my life. I spent 7–8 months recovering from this accident, unable to work while focusing on healing and learning how to walk and live normally again.

Just as I was beginning to recover and rebuild, I was wrongfully detained by ICE for 2 months. This has placed an enormous emotional and financial burden on my family. Not only was I not able to work during these month, I lost future jobs because of my absence.

We are asking for support to help cover:

• Legal and immigration-related expenses

• Basic living costs for my family

• Care for my children and our dog.
