Studying Abroad

I have currently completed my first year at Slippery Rock University majoring in Special Educ and Elementary Ed and a minor in Elementary Art.  Both semesters I was on the Dean's List and won the University's Board of Governors' Scholarship, awarded not only for academic achievement, but for university and community involvement both on and off campus. 
Two years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to go on a Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic and experience an amazing journey of both humanitarianism and faith.
I have come to the realization that learning about other cultures and seeing the world outside of my small hometown is rewarding, challenging, and educational. I want to experience every opportunity I have before me to be a better teacher and grow as a person.
This year I have an opportunity to study abroad. The trip is sponsored by SRU, study abroad trip for a two weeks leadership trip to New Zealand which will combine both study and humanitarian efforts.
Although much of my education costs are covered by my grants and scholarships, study abroad is not covered and must be paid for independently. The trip is approximately $4,000.
I would greatly appreciate any donations that will help fund my studies abroad. I am positive these experiences will benefit me immensely to develop as a teacher and be more aware of other cultures, which I will then be able to share with my students and other teachers in the future.
