PPROM at 23 weeks pregnant

Donation protected
I was very excited to be pregnant with my first child and my pregnancy was going fantastic! I had reached 23 weeks in my pregnancy when my amniotic sac ruptured. It's known as PPROM (preterm rupture of membranes). Suddenly my pregnancy wasn't going as planned, and I was facing losing my baby boy that I already loved so much.
I was transferred to a larger hospital an hour and half away where they had a more advanced NICU To take care of my baby, since they expected an early delivery and a very young baby.
Upon arrival by ambulance to the emergency department and straight to labor and delivery...doctors and nurses surrounded me in hopes that I wasn't going into labor so early in my pregnancy. To their surprise, I wasn't dilated, nor was I having contractions so their fear for the next few days was infection, because the amniotic sac was ruptured, and preterm labor.
With the baby only being 23 weeks gestational age, I was facing the fear of losing my baby.
I was admitted to the hospital, and we would be monitored closely for the next remaining time in the hospital until delivery.
Days and days passed, and before I knew it we had been in the hospital for a month and my baby boy had reached 28 weeks! Great news! We had beat the odds so far! Each day he stays inside the more time he has to develop. Doctors were stunned I was still pregnant and the baby was healthy after such an extended time. Most PPROM cases deliver within the first 5-7 days after rupture. We were working on our 4th week of being in the hospital and that much closer to a fully term baby.
The doctors were concerned that with the amniotic sac ruptured, the baby wasn't developing like he should because he wasn't surrounded by enough amniotic fluid as he should be. After two sonograms, variable heart rate, and 32 days in the hospital, their speculations were correct and decided to delivery my son on Sunday, March 29,  2015 via C-Section.
Kason was brought into the world at 2:24pm, weighing 1lb 11oz and 12 inches long.
Now my baby boy is in the NICU being so strong and fighting for his life. He is doing well for how small he is, but we have a long road ahead of us. I have faith that he will grow and develop normally and stay healthy! He is a little fighter!!
I pray daily for his health and development, and do whatever I can to help my little man strive!
During this life changing experience I have been out of work. I will continue to be out of work so that I care for my son while he is in the NICU. It is very important for mothers to be with the baby as much as possible while in the NICU...it helps them develop and stay comfortable during this critical time is their start to life.
He is expected to be in the NICU until his original due date June 21, 2015. Depending on how things go, it could possibly be longer...but I have faith it won't be. I will also be out of work after he comes home from NICU, because he will be just like a full term new born.
On top of being out of work, Kason and I have stacked up a large amount of medical bills as well. I'm willing to do whatever I need to take care of my son during all this...but the financial part of it isn't going to be easy. I am asking for help, not for me but for my baby boy Kason Wyatt.
I appreciate any and all help, evey little bit counts.
God Bless Y'all
