When my newborn son was born on 3/31/20, my wife and I were lucky to be at the hospital right before things were projected to get "worse" with COVID-19 in the Cleveland area. Going there during this time was worrisome enough, but anticipating giving birth to a defenseless newborn added some extra stress and worry. The staff at Cleveland Clinic - Fairview was amazing (as always...this was our 4th child born there, our 1st child was a premie there). They had extra staff on hand and ensured that our health and well-being were top priorities. We were much more at ease knowing that the doctors, nurses, aides, and rest of the hospital staff were doing their best to maintain a safe environment for us. I want to give back to the people on the front lines of this hospital, and eventually others in the Cleveland area – my extended family has had our fair share of hospital visits over the years! The genuine care that these workers show and give, especially in these uncertain times, is selfless and courageous...a huge part of why I want to give back to these wonderful people by saying Thank You!!!

When I stayed with my wife at the hospital for 2 days (and of course while at home), washing my hands so often completely dried them out and caused my skin to crack. If my hands got this bad so quickly, I know that our healthcare heroes have it even worse – they have to wash their hands so much more than we do!
