Puerto Rico Hometown Rebuild
Donation protected
My name is Yolimar and I am from Villalba, PR, currently living in Boston, MA. Today, Wednesday September 20th, my home island of Puerto Rico faced storm Maria, a Category 5 Hurricane. This hurricane has caused tremendous devastation to the island and in terms of the infrastructure, most of the island will not be the same. ... This is something of historic proportions.
The town of Villalba, located in the central region of the island, is a small town in the mountain region with many low-income families. Some of the houses are made of wood with zinc ceilings, which some encounter total devastation as the strong winds of Hurricane Maria pummeled the island.
The estimate costs of loss it's still unknown. My goal is to be able to help as many families in Villalba, in rebuilding their homes, providing water and everyday essential items.
I will be traveling to Puerto Rico the first week of October. My plan is to visit different sectors of Villalba along with family members. We will start providing water and everyday essentials and move on with rebuilding costs as needed. I will be sharing everything on my Facebook and Instagram accounts once we have more information on the conditions of my hometown.
Thank you so much for your donation!
