New book - Publiquemos juntos mi segundo libro

Hello, I'm Carolina Pulido Ariza, a Colombian writer, and today I want to invite you to be my co-editor and investor for the publication of my book.

Any additional funding will be dedicated to the publication of my third book, a very personal memoir, which will include among others, the experiences lived during the transformative Camino de Santiago (that I shared with some of you, so you may see your names there one day!).

This will be my first non-fiction book, and I'm hopeful to bring it to life and share it with you all in 2025.

Since I was a child, I discovered my love for writing: essays, articles, but what came most naturally to me was poetry. I believe my passion for writing began at thirteen, in 2003, just after my father's passing. I recall a Spanish teacher assigning us the task of writing a poem, and as I sat down to put my thoughts on paper, my hands seemed reluctant to stop. Like rivers, they drew the sea of sadness consuming me at that moment. In school, I was fortunate to have teachers who appreciated that talent and helped me improve. Every year, I won poetry contests involving various schools in Bogotá. Today, I can attest that poetry saved my life.

Later, university and work came, and I got lost in the weight of daily life, in (sur)viving in a foreign country (France), and in growing and evolving professionally. With the twentieth anniversary of my father's death, I had the privilege of publishing my first book, "TRECE," under the editorial seal of Planeta. It was a dream come true and the best gift I could give to my father.

I believe that from heaven, he returned that gift to me with a series of events that, like an avalanche of snow, completely transformed the "normalcy" I knew until then. The issue is that to be reborn, one must die; one must grow, and growing hurts.

Thus, 2023 has been one of the most challenging years of my life, but also beautiful. I was recognized by the Consulate of Rome as a migrant who honors the name of Colombia, a recognition that propels me to continue writing. I presented my first book in Bogotá, Cartagena, Madrid, and Rome, and the most beautiful part was embracing my readers.

As in the case of TRECE, millions of stars were born from darkness. Thus, closing this year, I realize that we have 69 poems ready to give birth to the younger sister of "TRECE."

This time, I opted for a different publication route, without a publishing house, directly with Amazon. The reason? I want to ensure that distribution can reach everyone worldwide, and I don't want to wait. I feel this second book must be born as proof of survival after such a difficult year.

Unfortunately, at this moment, I cannot finance the publication alone, so I ask you to be part of this project, and together, let's celebrate its launch at FILBO in Bogotá in April 2024.

What's new on this second book:

• Theme: This book speaks about Love and all the other addictions we use to evade reality.

• Language: As those who know me are aware, I began learning English at the age of four, and it's a natural language for me. Half of the poems were born naturally in this language, making this book the first published in two languages.

• Printing: I will print only 100 copies in the first collector's edition, which I will deliver to those participating in this project and the first buyers. The rest will be printed by Amazon using its traditional method.

• Launch: We are preparing a launch at FILBO in Bogotá in April 2023. The English version will be released between May and September 2024, probably in Rome.

The budget:

To publish the second edition of my book, both in English and Spanish, and after obtaining quotes from various professionals, I have calculated a funding goal of $2,470. This number was determined after consulting with various experts, and the budget distribution is as follows:

• Self-publishing course: 16%

• Promotion and events: 15%

• Editor ES: 20%

• Editor EN: 20%

• Printing collector's edition: 13%

• Layout and illustration: 16%

Hola, soy Carolina Pulido Ariza, escritora colombiana y hoy te quiero invitar a ser mi co-editor e inversionista en la publicación de mi segundo libro.

Update importante: Queridos donantes y amigos, no podría estar más feliz de compartir que no solo alcanzamos nuestra meta, ¡sino que la superamos gracias a su increíble generosidad!

El financiamiento adicional se dedicará a la publicación de mi tercer libro, un Memoir, que incluirá, entre otras, experiencias vividas durante el transformador peregrinaje del Camino de Santiago (que compartí con algunos de ustedes, ¡así que pueden ver sus nombres allí algún día!).

Este será mi primer libro de no ficción, y espero poder compartirlo con todos ustedes en 2025.

Desde pequeña descubrí mi amor por la escritura: ensayos, artículos, pero lo que venía más natural era la poesía. Creo que mi pasión por escribir comenzó a los trece años, en 2003, justo después de la muerte de mi papá. Recuerdo que una profesora de español nos asignó la tarea de escribir un poema, y al sentarme, mis manos parecían no querer detenerse. Como ríos, dibujaban el mar de tristeza que me consumía en ese momento. En el colegio, tuve la suerte de contar con profesores que valoraban ese talento y me ayudaron a mejorar. Cada año ganaba concursos de poesía en los que participaban diversos colegios de Bogotá. Hoy, puedo dar fe que la poesía me salvo la vida.

Luego, llegó la universidad y el trabajo, y me perdí en el peso de la cotidianidad, en (sobre)vivir en un país extranjero (Francia), y en crecer y evolucionar profesionalmente. Con el aniversario #20 de la muerte de mi papá, tuve la suerte de publicar mi primer libro, "TRECE", bajo el sello editorial de Planeta. Fue un sueño hecho realidad y el mejor regalo que le pude dar a mi papá.

Creo que desde el cielo, él me devolvió ese regalo con una serie de eventos que, como una avalancha de nieve, transformaron por completo la "normalidad" que conocía hasta entonces. El problema es que para renacer, hay que morir; hay que crecer, y crecer duele.

Así, el 2023 ha sido uno de los años más difíciles de mi vida, pero también hermoso. Fui reconocida por el consulado de Roma como migrante que enaltece el nombre de Colombia, un reconocimiento que me impulsa a seguir escribiendo. Presenté mi primer libro en Bogotá, Cartagena, Madrid y Roma, y lo más hermoso, pude abrazar a mis lectoras y lectores.

Como en el caso de TRECE, de la oscuridad nacieron millones de estrellas, y así, cerrando este año, me doy cuenta de que tenemos 69 poemas listos para dar a luz a la hermana menor de "TRECE".

Esta vez, opté por una publicación diferente, sin una casa editorial, directamente con Amazon. ¿La razón? Quiero asegurarme de que la distribución pueda llegar a todo el mundo, y además, no quiero esperar. Siento que este segundo libro debe nacer como prueba de supervivencia tras un año tan difícil.

Lamentablemente, en este momento no puedo financiar la publicación sola, por eso te pido que seas parte de este proyecto y que juntos celebremos su lanzamiento en la FILBO de Bogotá, en abril de 2024.

• Tema: Este libro nos habla del Amor, y de todas las demás adicciones que usamos para evadir la realidad.

• Idioma: Como saben los que me conocen, empecé a aprender inglés a los cuatro años, y es un idioma natural para mí. La mitad de los poemas nacieron naturalmente en este idioma, convirtiendo este libro en el primero publicado en dos idiomas.
