Public defibrillator at Fishbourne Primary School

Donation protected

Please help us raise £3000 to install a public defibrillator ( AED ) at Fishbourne Primary School. ( outside wall )

Hello, my name is Jamie Gregory. I am 9 years old, live in Fishbourne and am a pupil in year 5 (Panther Class) at  Fishbourne Primary             School, as are my friends Ted, Elliot, Charlie, Joseph and Leo.

Just like many other children my age, I was watching the Denmark vs Finland Euro 2020 game when Christian  Eriksen suddenly collapsed on the pitch with a cardiac arrest. I was obviously very upset by this and after talking  with my parents, realised how vital the quick use of a defibrillator (AED) was in saving Eriksen’s life that day.

I soon learnt that a sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, of any age, at any time and without warning. This may happen to someone in my school, my family or in our local community and there is no public defibrillator close enough to significantly increase someone’s            chances of survival if their heart were to stop.

Did you know that without an available defibrillator, within 10 minutes, the chances of someone surviving are just 5%?…… An ambulance would rarely arrive within this time and the nearest defibrillator is not close enough. With  an available defibrillator, used within the first    10 minutes, the chances of survival are raised to 75%-90%.

A group of us (from Panther Class) have decided to do something about this!

My football crazy friends and I will be raising money by dribbling footballs for 10 miles in 5 days around our  running track on the school      field and by raising money through our fundraising page. If and when we can raise the funds, we will be installing a public defibrillator on      the outside, front wall of our school building which will be available to be used by anyone who may sadly need it one day…….that could         unfortunately be you or your loved ones!

We are really hoping that the local community ( and anyone else who is able) will support our important mission!

If you would like to donate, please do so on this fundraising page or by bringing money in a clearly marked envelope to the school office.

We are hoping to raise the funds needed as well as the funds to be able to replace the battery and pads when  needed in the future.

Any money that would possibly be left and available would be used to train the staff in the use of the AED  ( simply for confidence as               anyone is able to use a defibrillator due to the clear instructions they give during use) and maybe even allow the school to fund some basic first aid training for our older pupils over the coming year or two.

Thank you for reading this and please help if you can x  Please share our fundraising page with your friends and family, especially if they        live in Fishbourne!

Jamie, Ted, Elliot, Charlie, Joseph and Leo.
