P.S.110 needs filtered water fountains!

Please donate so that students and staff at P.S. 110 can have filtered water!
I’m a third grade teacher at the school and my students have been studying the water crisis. We learned about the issues people face in getting water around our world and in our own country. Throughout our studies, my students raised the issue that in our own school, there is no clean drinking water (even though the United Nations actually declared that access to clean drinking water is a human right!). My students became inspired to take action so please consider donating to help my eight-year-olds solve this issue! (and maybe you can even tell that they have been studying persuasive writing!).
Currently, the water that comes out of our water fountains smells, looks, and tastes funny. The pipes in our school are incredibly old and honestly, as an adult, I don't even want to drink the water (let alone tell my students to!).
Plus, by having a filtered water fountain, our school can reduce the amount of single- use plastic it is using! Many students in our school bring in two or more single-use water bottles so that they have access to filtered water throughout the day. But if they could refill their bottles with clean water, they would only bring in reusable options. My students learned some pretty heart-wrenching facts about plastic use. For one, plastic takes 500 - 1,000 years to decompose. That means that all the plastic you have ever used is still on the planet! Not to mention, by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish! We have the power to take steps to fix this in our own school!
Overall, teachers cannot do their best teaching and students cannot do their best learning if they do not have access to clean drinking water! It’s ridiculous that in NYC, students and teachers do not have the clean water they need to succeed! Please consider donating so that we can get filtered water filters installed for next year.
