Protecting Liberties and Lives in Richland County

In early 2020, conservatives in Richland County started two initiatives to declare Richland County a "sanctuary" (safe place) for gun rights and for the unborn. This has nothing to do with immigration, but rather protecting the right to life and Second Amendment. 

One of our county commissioners signed our petitions, with two more wanting to see how many signatures we could acquire from Richland County residents, so they knew where the people stood. 

We think we already know where the people of Richland County stand. We believe in the right to keep and bear arms, and we believe in the right of every person to live. 

At the time, the Sidney Herald's editor wrote, "No one is trying to take your guns." But a year later, we see that the party currently in power in Washington D.C. - the House, the Senate, and the Presidency - are all trying actively as hard as they can to prohibit peer-to-peer sale of firearms, make the price of ammunition unreasonable through unconstitutional bureaucratic requirements, demand background checks to buy ammo, and to charge up to $200 for every semi-automatic firearm and also $200 for every high-capacity magazine. 

Meanwhile, the Montana legislature has fought hard to successfully pass bills through at least one chamber, with the governor poised to sign them upon passage of the other chamber, that will help Montana "just say no" to Washington D.C. power grabs. 

However, we need our Richland County officials - our three commissioners, county sheriff, prosecutors, and judges - to express their highest commitment to the Constitution and their willingness to protect us against unjust laws that impede our right to life or liberty. 

These funds will be used to send a 5x7 mailer to every single home and address in Richland County, with instructions on how to sign the petition (online or in person). 

Let's work together to send the message to our commissioners and local leaders that we will stand behind them, if and when it's necessary for them to protect us from federal overreach.
