**5/17/22 UPDATE: A HUGE shout out to our community for the support shown to our students and to supporting diversity in Anderson and Newtown! THANK YOU.
To date, the funds have purchased
1) Approximately 450 shirts for the high school students to wear to show their support for diversity in our schools
2) Approximately 8000 stickers for younger students and community members to wear to show support for diversity in our community
3) Materials (and copies) needed for the FH5K and Diversity Day Experience that the students have visioned and will direct and run.

Our children have spoken! They want the opportunity to celebrate diversity, to celebrate each other and the value we all bring, and to better understand each other and those in our world.

Our community cannot and should not stand by when Diversity Day is being taken away as an educational experience for our students.
Our community should rally to ensure students have a powerful opportunity to learn about themselves and others in a safe and supportive environment.
Learning about and thinking about life experiences outside of our own help us all to develop better world knowledge and empathy, to become better friends, better communicators, better people.
This Go Fund Me has been initiated at the request of the students. Funds raised will show community support for our students and for each other. Funds raised will show our commitment to celebrating diversity and supporting all of our growth and learning through new experiences.
Specifically, funds will cover
1) Cost of "Protect Diversity" t-shirts for THS students to wear on May 18th. **UPDATE: DUE TO THE INCREDIBLY POSITIVE AND OVERWHELMING COMMUNITY SUPPORT, WE WILL BE ABLE TO OFFER T-SHIRT TO AHS STUDENTS AS WELL.**
2) Cost of "Protect Diversity" stickers/buttons for younger students to wear on May 18th.
3) Materials for the Student Diversity day and booth at the FH5K.
4) Donation to charity of the THS student leaders' choice (if extra funds are collected).
