Protect Capital Care Clients

Hello everyone!

I am a certified nurse-midwife trying to raise funds to buy a parking lot to help protect patients and their support people. Capital Care Clinic is located at the corner of W. Sylvania Ave and N. Haven Ave in Toledo, OH. Just across N. Haven Ave. is a parking lot, currently for sale, that is inhabited daily by the dreaded antis. Dun! Dun! Dun! While Capital Care does have it's own parking lot, being able to purchase the one across the street would help greatly. It would provide more parking for patients as well as increase the distance between patients and protestors. 

The antis come with their signs, and their bullhorns, and their prayers and aggressively try to convince patients not to complete their medical procedures. Can you imagine going for your pap smear or mammogram and having people shout at you because they don't think cancer screening should be easily accessible? Neither can I! And why should the patients at Capital Care have to face it?! That's right! They shouldn't.

The antis try to lure patients into this parking lot and then convince them that they will provide support if the patient does not go through with their procedure. It would be like saying, "Hi there! If you don't go to the dentist today, I will give you everything you need. Toothbrush, mouth wash, AND a pack of floss." And if you decide not to go to the dentist? Just kidding, we already convinced you to do what we wanted. No toothbrush for you. Except, well... a lot more complicated than that and with many more health risks.

If we are able to raise enough money to purchase the parking lot on the opposite corner of N. Haven Ave and W. Sylvania Ave, we will be able to put some much needed space between patients and the antis. Clinic escorts might not have to use umbrellas to protect patients. Clinic escorts wont have to work so hard to make it obvious which is the correct parking lot for patients, because they'll BOTH be the correct parking lot.

If extra money is raised, a privacy fence will be built around the new parking lot. If extra extra money is raised, it will be donated to Capital Care Clinic and various access funds.
