Kids Educational Engagement Project

My name is Brenda Moore and I am a concerned citizen of Liberia. Schools in Liberia have been shut down for months because of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

During this time, we’ve seen the need for children to be engaged academically during this difficult time in Liberia and decided to do something about it. The Kids Educational Engagement Project (KEEP) was born out of that need.

Since September 2014, along with a few volunteers, we have been providing weekly worksheets and exercises (free of charge) for the children in various communities around Monrovia (Liberia) and creating awareness with parents about the need to tutor their children daily until schools are reopened. We are targeting children in Pre-school to 6th grade.

We take the items directly to the families each week and do follow-up (monitoring) to verify that the kids are completing the exercises before providing new sets of activity sheets.

We intend to keep this simple community-based program weekly until the reopening of schools.

We use the funds raised to purchase crayons, pencils, notebooks, sharpeners, erasers and produce activity worksheets
