Project Front Line McHenry County Covid-19 Support

Donation protected

Take action + help front line workers in McHenry County as they fight COVID-19, keep us safe and serve us!

Thank you for all those who have helped us reach our GOAL. As final deliveries are deployed, if additional dollars remain within this project, those funds will be donated directly to the United Way of McHenry Couny Covid-19 fund to be used to help local non-profit agencies serving those in our communities! We are stronger together so thank you for contributing.

We collected funds to use towards purchasing provisions like breakfast, lunch, beverages and other treats from local businesses to show our front line workers how appreciative we are to their efforts and to help boost moral. A simple demostration of kindness.

Front line can be broadly defined. Our goal had us begin with deliveries to front line workers at local hospitals and immediate care centers. Then as we continued to raise funds we move on to other departments, and other critical community roles like our police and fire departments. As theffort gain tedraction expansion from healthcare + first responders extended to pharmacists, grocery store staff and other essential services including nursing homes.

We source provisions from local businesses to infuse additional dollars back into our community. Each donation is a double effort to keep up moral for our front line workers + fueling local businesses with sales.

So many generous people, organizations and businesses have demonstrated a random act of kindness by sparing a few dollars to help this McHenry County grass roots community effort. A dedicated account at Crystal Lake Bank & Trust is setup for the deposits. This dedicated account will be used only for purchases to support the McHenry County front line workers. Erin McElroy, the original organizer of this campaign, will transfer funds to this bank account as they are donated here. The funds will then be paid directly to businesses who are providing provisions for front line workers through an invoicing system via check or debit card.  If additional dollars remain within this project, those funds will be donated directly to the United Way of McHenry Couny Covid-19 fund to be used to help local non-profit agencies serving those in our communities.

We share updates on completed projects via our dedicated Project Front Line: McHenry County COVID-19 Support Facebook Page . We all share deliveries to the front line workers and the businesses we worked with. We encourage everyone to follow the page to read comments and view photos from the deliveries as well as to learn about the local restaurants, cafes and bakeries this fund supports. We encourage people to follow these businesses online and consider ordering curbside or delivery to continue to support these local businesses.

As residents of McHenry County, we are all in this together, although currently sheltering in place. Helping one another, feels good. Positive to those who give, and positive for those on the frontline who will receive something. All while putting a little money back into the local economy. Together as we combine funds our impact can cast a wider net than individual efforts.

Sincere Gratitude to all those who participate. Accepting donations at ALL levels!

"A single act of kindess throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. "
~Amelia Earhart

Nine weeks ago this grassroots effort launched with the intention of spreading kindness to the front lines by purchasing from local restaurants, cafes and bakeries.

With the desire to make a double impact. To help businesses affected by the shelter in place order by infusing cash pooled together by strangers. During a time when we were told that doing nothing was the best thing to stay healthy. This project gave the ability from the safety of our homes to help others. To be the reason someone else smiled.

By just clicking, 542 people contributed more than $50,000.

We came together virtually, and 8,130 front line workers benefited! Spirits were lifted. 161 drops of food from 40 local restaurants were coordinated and delivered across McHenry County to hospitals, immediate cares, nursing homes, to first responders, to grocery stores, pharmacies and to volunteers working at food pantries.

All built upon our desire to make a difference during the pandemic.

Sending everyone who participated a virtual high five.

As this project concludes, we send our sincere gratitude to the donors, volunteers, businesses owners and front line workers.

We encourage everyone who has enjoyed the photos from the deliveries to like and follow the facebook pages of the restaurants, bakeries and cafes.

Keep spreading kindness by patronizing these businesses and ordering take out and delivery.

This project demonstrated that together, even from home, we are stronger.

Be well, and however you are moved or inspired during this time, keep the spirit of kindness in your heart.

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
