Project Can-Do

Donation protected
I am Averie I am setting this account up to help me reach my goal to make 150 patriotic blankets. One day my sister called and said that there is a need  for patriotic blankets to give to Veterans during Honor Salutes . I said I can  make a few blankets, but when she said the Veterans that would receive the blankets are on hospice care, I knew I was going to make much more than a few. Since then I have handmade over a dozen blankets. I want my blankets to be given to almost every Veteran in hospice care, there are over 150 Veterans in hospice care right now. I have been told by hospice care coordinators that these blankets are cherished by veterans and family members alike and even handed down to family as well as being buried with them. Caring Hands News Letter for Hospice

Like all good things me making the blankets almost came to an end, I did not have any more funds to buy the fabric to make the blankets. I can not get a job because I am still in middle school but I do chores to make small amounts of money. When I almost lost hope, one of my neighbors donated 20 dollars to me and then another from my moms work. Which kept me going and renewed my hope that this could happen.

I have started a club at my school , it's called Project Can-Do. We have 14 members and hopefully we will increase this number. We make patriotic blankets and thank you cards for the Veterans.  I would also like to start buying flag pins for the Honor Salutes.  If I reach my goal then perhaps  I can make and give blankets to all the  veterans in my local area (if I raise enough through this site I would love to include other communities). I will be filled with glee and happiness to bring them happiness. The blankets make the Veterans happy to know people care about them especially at a time when they and their families are most vulnerable. A time when their service may have seemed to be forgotten.

To my readers : the opportunities and  freedoms you have today, see today, worship today and say today is because our veterans have to do served our country for you to be able to have those freedoms that are denied to many.
Please consider, during this time of need  to give what you can. I need the funds as soon as possible! Honor Salutes happen all year round. We need more fabric and other things to make the blankets!  If you are interested in making and giving your own patriotic blanket(s) to give, contact your local hospice.

Thank You in advance!
