Princess Diana interview private prosecution
Donation protected
This fundraiser is being set up to bring a private prosecution arising from the events leading up to Martin Bashir’s interview with Princess Diana. The broadcast was relayed worldwide, hastening her divorce from Prince Charles, and leading to Diana leaving the Royal Family and the secure protection that membership afforded.
The private prosecution would be brought with the assistance of lawyers with experience of private prosecutions.
Before securing his landmark BBC Panorama TV interview with Princess Diana, the journalist Martin Bashir approached Matt Weissler, a graphic artist, to request that he fabricate a genuine bank statement[s] to show that a member of Charles Spencer’s security staff had received a payment when this was not true.
The funds raised will be used to do the following-
Obtain evidence for the private prosecution
Draft the papers for an application for a summons to be issued by a Magistrates’ Court
Correspond and liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service
Obtain a court order for the Metropolitan Police to disclose their file
Representation in Court for the first hearing
Representation in Court for the Pre-Trial Preparation hearing
Organise and disclose documents to the Defence
Representation in Court for the Pre-Trial Review
Representation in Court for the Trial
This fundraising has been created to assist with the cost of running this private prosecution and with the help of those who want to know the truth, we will discover the truth.
Please donate what you can.
