It is with sorrowful hearts that we reach out to all of you, to help our cherished friend and colleague, Prince Mujumbe, undergo brain surgery in India.
Prince is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, came to the US for his Master’s studies, and has been working with the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan.
Earlier this year, Prince was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma after a 12-month battle with the endless tinnitus he managed to live with. After seeing many specialists and getting treatments for his ears, nose, throat, mouth, and eyes to no avail, he was advised to have a brain MRI.
This condition forced Prince to stop working as an independent consultant and to stop building a house for his mother in his hometown.
Due to the lack of appropriate facilities to treat this type of case in his home country where he currently resides and in the region, Prince has been advised to seek treatment at hospitals in India where world-class specialized hospitals are affordable.
We are seeking to raise $12,000 to cover all hospital bills, travel costs, and daily expenses while he and his companion are in India. All funds raised will be given directly to the family to help them cover these costs.
Acoustic neuroma, although a benign brain tumor, can cause life-threatening problems if not treated properly and in a timely manner. Many patients’ lives come to a halt because of the many symptoms ranging from headaches, seizures, nausea, drowsiness, memory, vision or speech problems, progressive weakness, or paralysis on one side of the body.
Thank you for considering and supporting Prince.
