Helping to improve Primrose Parks, Jarrow

Hi! We are Primrose Parks Alliance and we are a small community group based in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear. We were formed in May 2019 with the purpose of improving the parks and green spaces in the Primrose area after quite a few years of neglect. This will enable our children and future generations to have the opportunity to see how beautiful these areas can be and they can realise that a little bit of care and attention can make our communal and public areas the kind of places that you will want to visit time and time again.
We currently look after Valley View (Monkton Dene) and Springwell Parks. These areas are steeped in history and also are home to a lot of fabulous wildlife and wild birds.
This is our first fundraiser as we are not a registered charity but a community group with committed trustees and we do not have a funding stream. We are raising money for equipment to help us clean up, maintain and continue to look after our fabulous parks and also to organise events for children and families during the forthcoming summer holidays.
Our litterpicking equipment desperately needs replacing. We also need good, new gardening tools to cut back the brambles and overgrown ivy - we have to borrow items to allow our volunteers to help us, your donation would be massively appreciated to enable us to replace these items with industry standard equipment that will last a long, long time and, due to this, it will also help us to organise future events. Your donations will also help us to organise more children’s competitions and events for the parks. We held a fabulous nature trail in May and it was enjoyed by over 100 families who commented on how much they loved the park and the event and promised to return and use the parks in the future.
All of the community will benefit from your very kind donation, we have many older people in the area who love to walk around the parks and share fantastic memories of how the parks used to be, we also have dozens of regular dog walkers who love to use the parks and open spaces to walk their fabulous dogs. As well as families who, once the sun is shining, love to spend time in the parks - sometimes bringing picnics along too. The sports courts are in constant use with young people, older people and families all enjoying the spaces available to them.
We are constantly checking the parks and trying to ensure that everyone can enjoy a safe, clean and tidy environment for their activities.
