Preston's Station - Continuing The Legacy

Preston's Station Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We are located in Belle Plaine, Iowa. Preston's has been an integral part of Belle Plaine and Lincoln Highway history since the early 1920's. My husband and I are fourth generation to own Preston's Station Historic District. Preston's is a small non-profit relying solely on donations to operate.
Between COVID restrictions and the derecho impacting Iowa on August 10 last year, Preston's was negatively impacted twice. Not being able to open to share The Preston Legacy to travelers along the Lincoln Highway meant we were unable to accept contributions nor sell merchandise to raise funds toward restoring and preserving Preston's. Then the derecho came through in August, resulting in damage to the Station's front window, which meant we now have unplanned damage needing repaired. #SmallBusinessRelief
Funds raised through this fundraiser will assist us repair the derecho damage to the Station's front window. We received an emergency grant to assist with the repairs to the front window, but that only covers a portion of the cost to restore the window properly so we do not have a negative impact the historical significance of the Station.
Our goal is to raise the $500 by June 1, 2021 when the contractor will be ready to begin restoration of the window. With the $500 raised through our fundraiser we are hopeful to be awarded a matching grant up to $500. ALL of these funds will allow a complete historically correct restoration.
We realize everyone has been touched in someway by COVID and with Preston's affected twice last year, between COVID restrictions and the derecho, we are hopeful you can donate to our efforts to preserve and restore Preston's Station District. Any support you can give toward our $500 goal to assist in restoring the Station's front window will be greatly appreciated.
