Prayers, love and support for Angelique Roberts

Donation protected
If you live in Nevada County, there is an excellent chance that you know the Roberts family.

Angelique is a Bear River graduate and one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. Her husband Chris is currently the principal at Bear River High School. He held the same position at Lyman Gilmore, and before that, he taught Spanish and coached soccer at Granite Bay High School.

The Roberts are pillars in the Grass Valley community. They are active members of their church, and they are a family that has likely either coached or played against your children on a local soccer field.

Angelique, Chris, Josh, Tanner, Riley, Ryan and Callie are going to need your thoughts, prayers and support.

In August of 2017, Angelique was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She did everything possible to battle the illness, including a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. It wasn’t easy, but she overcame the disease and thought she had moved on to a new chapter in her life.

As the family prepared for the holidays in December of 2021, Angelique struggled with back pain. A doctor visit revealed some concerns, which have turned into a new battle for Angelique and the Roberts family.

An x-ray revealed a stress fracture in Angelique’s back, but the cause of the injury is a much more significant concern at this time. After more than three years of being cancer-free, Angelique has been diagnosed with metastatic recurrent breast cancer that has metastasized to her bones and liver.

Angelique has already begun treatment, but the road ahead is daunting. In the coming months, the Roberts family will be tested once again, and they need the support of the community around them.

The Roberts need a bed that will better serve their needs for starters, especially with Angelique’s back injuries. On top of that, they have a high deductible health insurance policy that will only add pressure to their situation.

These are people who work overtime and make sacrifices to ensure the health, safety and education of the children in our community. They are selfless, honest people who make a difference.

All of the Roberts' energy needs to go toward helping Angelique in her fight. As a community, we need to embrace her family, send positive thoughts and prayers, and, if possible, try to limit the financial landslide that is about to overwhelm them.

Keep in mind that any donation helps ease a burden and sends a positive message to a family that needs all the support they can get at this time.

This GoFundMe was not created as a request by the Roberts family, but out of love for the Roberts family, with their blessing.
