PPE NOW for Los Angeles Healthcare Workers

Donation protected
Update: In response to ongoing Black Lives Matter Protests, PPE Now LA is donating first aid supplies with the help of our friend Ash, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and masks to protest organizers.

Health care workers everywhere are lacking personal protective equipment aka PPE. In our city of Los Angeles more and more patients affected by COVID-19 are admitted daily. It’s been exhausting our PPE supplies to the point where many hospitals are reusing supplies that are not meant to be reused. The lack of sanitizing wipes has forced hospitals to use alternatives, such as rags washed in medical grade bleach just to keep up with the demand.

While we are thankful to be receiving donations, they can’t come quick enough due to required approvals, check offs, and regulations. We are doing our best to keep our city safe and secure, and we can only help if we have the equipment to do so. Our plan: to buy directly from commercial supplies to fulfill the immediate needs of our teams. We can no longer wait for a resupply with an uncertain arrival date or ones arriving in 6-12 weeks. Healthcare workers need these supplies today.

LA is getting closer the peak of the virus, and healthcare workers are already falling ill. Being on the frontlines of this pandemic means we health care workers are at 40% higher risk of exposure to the virus. On top of that, many have their own underlying medical conditions that put that at even greater risk. One of our team mates, Tess, works in the ER of a smaller community hospital. She has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been experiencing mild symptoms because a patient coughed in her face without her having adequate eye protection . Every time a health care worker becomes infected, it strains our staff and the community as a whole.

We are asking our fellow Angelinos to please help us secure PPE for our local health care workers so that we may service you in this time of need. If you have a surplus of unopened PPE you would like to donate, you can send that directly to your local hospital by checking the hospital’s donation times on your local hospital’s website. Thank you for your support, please share, wash your hands, stay home, wear your face covering and let’s keep Los Angeles safe and healthy.
