Power Generators for Puerto Rico

Donation protected

Hi as you are aware many of us Puerto Ricans living in the US have been looking for ways to assist our family and friends in PR.  I  JJ along wiht my family the Colon-Bemudez clan have  contacted several freight forwarders in Puerto Rico and I am arranging to get in contact with either FEMA or the Red Cross to try and ensure that all the generators we are able to send are delivered to those in dire need(medical necessity and or the elderly) I also expect to secure free shipping or at least reduced cost to ship.

The funds raised will be used to purchase generators that will provide between 4,000 and 5,000 watts of electricity ($400 to $600 cost per generator) and for any shipping costs involved, if any.   Leftover funds will be donated to the Red Cross. Update, as to the funds, We will purchase as many generators as we are able to with the funds raised, an anonymous donor has informed me that he/she will donate the ramaining funds if we are short to complete the purchase of a generator this will ensure that all funds raised will be 100 used for the campaign of "POWER GENETATORS FOR PUERTO RICO"

I will include a little note in each of the generators providing the recepient with a little background of the funding campaign(no names) and telling them to be strong and to hang in there.

I would like to get this completed (purchased and shipped) by October 15.

My apologies to all, however in order to begin withdrawing the funds so far raised "go fund me" has requested that I add the following disclosure even though it is pretty obvious.

Per GoFundMe's transparency policy regarding the allocation of funds, I will be withdrawing the donations to my personal bank account in order to purchase the generators and ship them to those in need in Puerto Rico'

Thanks for your donation

Below is an excerpt from an article published by the HuffPost regarding the situation with the power lines.

"Puerto Rico is facing the possibility of months without power after Hurricane Maria slammed into the U.S. territory as a Category 4 storm Wednesday September 20th.

For the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, the island’s sole energy service provider, that ripple effect shut off power for 100 percent of its customers. With $9 billion in debt, PREPA may not be able to restore power to the island for up to six months, officials warned."
