We are climbing guides that live in Potrero Chico. As the park becomes more popular I am seeing the number of rock climbing accidents rising. There seems to be a gap as to how much help the local first responders can provide to injured climbers here in Potrero Chico. We've been assisting the local Protection Civil in an attempt to close this gap and have observed a need for our own equipment, Our plan is to coordinate and train with the crew of El Buho, a local coffee shop run by climbers to have a trained group of volunteers ready to respond.
What We Need
The resources of the local Protection Civil are stretched pretty thin. Sometimes the backboard or head restraint is being used for another emergency in the town. So we want to have equipment dedicated to the climbing community that we can get to in a time of emergency. We need a Stokes basket, backboard, spider immobilization straps, a neck collar, head immobilizer, emergency splints and finally radios. This is by no means a complete list of everything we need but it gives you an idea.Stokes Basket
$145.25 USDSpider Immobilization Straps
Head Immobilizer $76.99 USD
Spine/Neck Collar $50 USDSplint Kit With Bag
$43.39 USDRadios 3
$62.89 x 3= $188.67 USD
We live in Potrero Chico and plan to store the equipment here with us all year. A few keys will given to some trusted individuals so there won't be any access issues in a time of need.
