Porter Villiage Farm Defense Fund

In 2016 I moved back to Maine,  just a few miles from my childhood home, to make a new life with my partner James on his burgeoning farm. Porter is a small town in western Maine along the Ossipee river and a beautiful place to build a farm and life together.  We began doing this last spring by clearing the edges of our road that takes us to the lionshare of the property.  This access has been contested by a neighbor that has also made a claim to rights on our property. We have been physically assaulted and harassed. The harassment has been ongoing for over 8 months and we have been issued orders of protection from the court and sheriffs office.  Just after the first of the year we were served with a lawsuit trying to take property from us and bar our use of the deeded rights to access the back of our land.  

We have had to secure an attorney as well as a survey  company to research our rights in both situations as well as to defend us against significant false claims that have been made on us and about us.  We have already used our savings and are still receiving costly bills from the attorney and survey company.  We are making ends meet currently but the case is likely to continue on for some months as more research into our rights and claims as well as defending ourselves from frequent intrusions into our personal space and video surveillance of our daily activities.
