Help Catarina on a mission in Guinea-Bissau

"You have to leave the island to see the island. We won't see each other if we don't leave ourselves"

And this is the year where everything becomes real, with the @portanova Association.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve always wanted to experience an international volunteer project. Not only for the sense of mission and assistance, but also for learning point of view, as I believe that when we go out there we have so much more to learn than what we can teach.

And this year I’ve embraced a very special project, together with 5 other colleagues, we will travel to Guinea-Bissau for 5 weeks in July 2024! We will join the teams at the Gabú and Cumura Regional Hospitals, both of which have a high need for medical assistance. Every year, an average of 80 kg of essential medical equipment is donated to carry out screenings of the population, provide healthcare continuous care, assist surgical procedures and training staff.

This is where I need your help! @portanova is a non-profit association that has been on the field for 4 years and every year it carries out these international projects that are only possible with the help of EVERYONE!

I created a GoFundme campaign with the aim of raising funds to make this project possible! Donations will be used to help with flights, traveler consultation, visas, vaccines, food and transport on site.

Therefore, I ask you to share this message and to contribute as much as possible. I do believe that every contribution counts and makes a difference!

E este é o ano em que tudo se concretiza com a Associação @portanova_emum

Quem me conhece sabe que sempre ambicionei realizar um projeto internacional de voluntariado. Não só pelo sentido de missão e ajuda, pelo sentimento de desigualdade no acesso a cuidados de saúde, mas também pela aprendizagem, pois acredito que quando vamos para lá aprendemos (muito mais) do que aquilo que ensinamos.

Este ano abracei um projeto muito especial. Em Julho irei para a Guiné-Bissau durante 5 semanas juntamente com mais 5 colegas. Iremos integrar as equipas dos Hospitais Regionais de Gabú e Cumura, ambos necessitados de apoio médico urgente. Todos os anos são doados em média 80 Kg de material médico e ao longo destes 4 anos já existiram 19 projetos Material esse essencial para a realização de rastreios à população, prestação de cuidados de saúde, assistência a cirurgias e formação dos profissionais Guineenses.

É neste aspeto em particular que peço a vossa ajuda! Criei esta campanha com o objetivo de arrecadar fundos para que este projeto seja possível! As doações serão para ajuda com voos, vistos, vacinas, alimentação, transporte no local e compra de material necessário para a prestação de cuidados.
