Greetings SmartThings and Hubitat enthusiasts. If you've landed here then you likely already own an Intermatic PE653 Pool Controller as I do. You are probably already running my Groovy device handler as well. I have enjoyed my pool and using the PE653 for all my automation tasks, but alas we have sold our home and have relocated to a condo where the HOA has taken over all my pool management duties. I had to leave behind all my Smart Home automation equipment including the pool controller. This leaves me in an awkward position when it comes to supporting this community, which I have enjoyed being a part of and wish to continue doing so.
With the generous support of many folks in the Smartthings and Hubitat communities I was able to purchase a new PE653 which I wired up in my lab as a free-standing (and portable) test device. It is now essentially a glorified power strip with individually controllable outlets along with 2 temperature sensors. :-) My next goal is to add a P5043 expansion module so I can continue to support those additional functions.
On the software side, I have recently been working on porting the device handler to the Smartthings "New App", which is a far more daunting task than I ever gave credit to. With over 100 hours invested in this one task I just published an update that has gotten positive feedback already.
