Please support a coworker, elderly mom & dog to get safe!

Hello everyone.

I have never started a GoFundMe page for anyone until now. I am starting this for a dear coworker and friend. She and her elderly mother have been in a horribly violent situation for years. My coworker has been taking care of her mother for about 5 years as they have dealt with illnesses requiring oxygen and not to mention injuries that have occurred along the way, for both of them. Her mother has also had open-heart surgery, among other illnesses. My coworker has several health conditions and is recovering from pneumonia currently.

She has sought help from numerous agencies over the years, but due to the demand for services since COVID, help has been very limited. She was told she makes too much money to get help, but not enough to live on. They recommended she seek help when she is homeless.

She has a dog named Zoie (see picture) who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and will not be able to get treatments at this point. Zoie is still active and happy and seems unaware she is ill, which makes decisions more heartbreaking.

We as a small staff have helped to get her out of the home that was so terribly dangerous to continue living in. She is staying in a hotel that allows her dog to stay for a fee of $150 a week. The weekly rate is $800 without Zoie. They are unable to sustain this expense. She has been able to pay for the room through this week (9/19/24). She does not have enough money to pay for food, gas, dog needs, and a potential security deposit for an apartment. She is actively looking. She has applied for help from DCYF for insurance, housing, and food, but they said there is a wait for those that are homeless. She has reached out to Families in Transition, DCYF, shelters, and DV organizations. We have all tried to offer help and made calls with no success.

She is a wonderful person who gives so much. She works hard and loves even harder. She is the rock that keeps us all going at the office and all we want is to help her be successful and SAFE!!! If there is anything you can spare to help in ANY way, she would be so grateful!
